Burkina Faso is streamlining its digital regulatory landscape. On 3 August 2026, the Transitional Legislative Assembly unanimously adopted the organic act establishing ARCOD, reviewed under the chairmanship of Dr Ousmane BOUGOUMA and presented by Minister of Justice Edasso Rodrigue BAYALA. The new authority brings media, telecoms and personal data protection regulation under one roof. With the power to issue directives without waiting for new legislation, it will also be able to regulate AI in an agile way, overseen by a board renewed in stages.
